Scary Things About Growing Up (Raquel)

- getting sincere compliments on my writing from people who know what they’re talking about (Sure, I can practice writing, but I’m not ready to write anything good. Am I?)
- picking up a telephone to call someone–just to say hello
- trying to say “I love you” when someone might realize I really mean it
- realizing that the people I look up to don’t have it all together either
Some things about growing older:
You wonder if you’ll ever get it all together;
You look back and realize that the experiences that have shaped you most are those that you would least like to repeat;
You recognize that the knowledge you’ve spent your life to learn is not what most people want to know;
Then you start to get wise counsel from your grown children, and you begin to think that maybe … just maybe you’ve traveled the right path, after all.
