Blog Identity Crisis (Raquel)
February 16, 2006 by Raquel
Gabrielle and I have been discussing the description of our blog. According to the description this blog is about us not going to college. In actuality, this blog has been mostly about our lives chasing after children. But then, the reason we’re here chasing children is we think this is a better training for the rest of our lives than college would be. It seems to me that our description needs to be expanded. It should include the fact that we’re not going to college, but also more about what we are doing with our lives. So far I haven’t had any really good ideas. I thought it might help to ask our readers. So why do y’all read this blog? What’s the main thing you get out of it? Whats sums up the blog the best in your mind? Ideally, Gabrielle and I will sort through our myriad of responses and weave the best parts together into a simple and cohesive description of our blog. In reality we will probably get two responses saying, “I read this blog because I’m related to one of you.” and Gabrielle and I will discuss (read ‘fight over’) what this blog is really about. Oh well, it’s worth a try.
I read this blog because I’m related to one of you.
I don’t remember which one.
I’m not related to either of you – unless you track our geneology back to Adam and Eve!
But I read this blog because you portray a different kind of single-woman’s perspective educationaly, generationally, and careerally-speaking.
I don’t read this blog.
I read this blog as a diversion from my daily life of dirty diapers and dishes, potty training, temper tantrums and sibling squabbles, but then I realized that that’s about all you write about here! Oh, well. At least it’s better than a scary bald guy who writes about games and the freaky voice from someone’s head. Maybe I need to find some new blogs….
Seriously, I really enjoy reading what you two write. You each have a unique insight on life and you both are able to express that well. Not to mention it’s also an easy way to keep in touch with my IL. relatives.
I read this blog to find out what you are doing. I can’t stalk EC #1 all the time and Sister #3 won’t even talk to me enough to let me know that she will be leaving for Erie on a train…..
What a sad, sad world…
at the top of your blog it says “A record of our adventures in non-college education.” and that’s what i see this blog as.
It’s a record of what you guys do… and you even attached the word adventure to it. I think that’s cool. That statement certainly makes you guys seem different than everyone else, even if that’s just the fact that you see something most people would call ‘everyday’ and change it into an adventure. I see it like that too. I like the narrative stuff. (i.e. i was walking to the store the other day when i realized… etc.) It makes me feel like i’m reading a big story book.
A,D,E,F, and sometimes C. Like when I lost the link to your blog, but TC sent it to me so I am okay now.
