Your Attention Please (Gabrielle)
June 19, 2006 by Gabrielle
So I have this announcement to make and I can’t figure out if I want to be serious about it or sort of kinda humorous. What am I talking about? If I have a choice between serious and not serious my choice seems to be rather obvious. Okay, here goes.
Attention all readers. I have an announcement to announce. By all rights Raquel should be doing this, but she opted out and so the joy of embarrassing her falls to me. Sometime last week, I’m hazy on the details, Jeremy, a new-comer to our little group that I have been talking about recently, and Raquel, you know her, started courting. For everyone who doesn’t know this word courting think dating and take a left. So, like, there’s a guy in Raquel’s life.
I for one am very excited about this because the opportunities to tease her mercilessly abound. And not just her either. I am good enough friends with Jeremy to tease him without mercy so it is like Teasing Christmas in summer.
And now I will supply a little, and I mean little, background information. His name is Jeremy, he lived for two years with my parents and I so I know him pretty well and he moved here from Pennsylvania mostly for the purpose of pursuing Raquel. He actually chased her across the country. Isn’t that great? For any and all concerned he is a very nice guy and I do believe he will be careful with our Raquel. If he isn’t I’ll kill him. Though I might have to get in line. ÂÂ
So, there is a guy in Raquel’s life and we are all very happy for them. If you would like to be happy for them too please leave a comment in the container near the exit of the room. Thank you. Good bye.
Can I be happy for myself?
I’ve told Jeremy this already, but I haven’t said it yet to Raquel: I’m so happy for you both! I think you two are going to be one of those cute couples that people will just smile at when you enter a room together. I’m just upset that I’m halfway across the world from you and I can’t be one of those people smiling at you.

Yes, how can Raquel be quite so silent on this matter…it is hard for a blabbermouth like me to understand. So I am glad, Gabrielle, that you have announced so that I don’t have to feel like I am visiting dreamland when I come to your blog…one step removed from reality no longer! Congratulations to you on your boldness! And congrats to Jeremy and Raquel for a taciturn match. Lots of love to you both!
Having read your blog I knew you were ready and looking. When I meet Jeremy the other day I remember thinking why do you not look at who is right next to you. Clearly you both already had. The way the two of you were reacting to each other was just unique. You seemed to be nagging him, yet just below the surface a good natured concern was shinnig out. i guess the secret was begining to show from your side at least.
A note to Jeremy, when a girl ask you not to sit by yourself, she probably means why dont you sit by her.
Michael,
Just so you know, Raquel, whom I am courting, was not at Redeemer this past Sunday. I was joking around with Gabrielle, but I can understand how you mixed up their names. The two of them are interchangeable, I’ve heard.
The Evans family sends a hearty congratulations! Is there a date?
so who was the girl you were being so friendly with? seems a bit fishy to me, does she know?
sorry just joking with you. actually I did confuse the two of them at first, then I was joking.
slow day at work, but at least I had a good laugh at my own expense over this.
Yeah, I know all about Jeremy and Gabrielle.
(Gabrielle, I hereby reference the inside joke that you should be abjectly grateful I’m not stating in public.)
It’s particularly funny because Gabrielle and I really do refer to ourselves as being interchangable–this sort of thing happens to us all that time. But then, we’re practically the same person anyway… Right, Jeremy?
Congratulations! Insert appropriately snide but congratulatory comment here.
Hey! Seth said what i was gonna say!
