Haiku of the Day (Raquel)
A haiku about growing up–

castles crumbling in the sand
their makers have left
to build castles of stoneÂ

I don’t know if you meant it this way or not, but that sounds so harsh. Sand makes me think of sunny days and wild imaginations while stone is cold and lifeless. I’m guessing you were just focusing on the permanence of our actions, but you seemed to have a twist in there. Or am I reading into it too much?
Hmm. I did mean it to be a little sad, but the castle of stone part was supposed to be a good thing. Part of it is that I have very few memories of building sand castles, while stone castles make me think of really cool looking old castles. If I changed it to ‘castles for real’ that would get across what I’m trying to say, but it sounds a littler weaker… I shall have to muse on this.
