Chili Cook-Off 2008 (Gabrielle)
September 24, 2008 by sharppointythings
Adiel and I were talking chili the other day. I don’t remember how the conversation started, but I know it had something to do with the proper bean to make a good chili. She started talking about how good her chili was. I started talking about how good my chili is. She insisted on her chili. I insisted on mine. Josh was unhelpfully talking about Dad’s chili. Neither Adiel nor I would back down on the praises our respective chilis have received. There was nothing for it but to hold the first Chili Cook-Off of 2008.
We prepared our contestants last night and they’ve been cooking since this morning. Adiel only has one slow-cooker so hers is in that and mine is on the stove. I compulsively stir just about anything on the stove when I pass it so I’m not that concerned about it burning. There was some talk of sabotage, but neither of us would ever do that. When my chili wins the contest I want to be able to gloat with a clear conscience.
I’ll let you know how the judging goes tonight. There was some preliminary judging last night when I was preparing my chili. Lily said Yum, but Malachi said he didn’t like it. He’s biased, though, cause he really likes his mommy.
Let the games begin!
Isn’t that somewhat of a home field advantage for Adiel?
Bah! I don’t need the home advantage! My chili is *that* good. Almost as good as my dad’s apparently.
