A Road Less Travelled

Well, the Chili Cook-Off went about like I expected. Adiel and I served up our chilis for our panel of judges. The panel was Josh, Lily, Malachi, Evangeline and Dad. Without knowing who’s was who’s they sampled each contestant. And came to the agreement that the chilis were very different and both very good.

I think Adiel and I were the ones who were analyzing and comparing the tastes most. It’s amazing that within the construct of beans, meat, tomato something and spices there could be so much variation. Adiel’s chili was full of rounded flavors which warm and soothe her after a trying day. My chili was more on the spiky side; not enough to hurt you, but sharp enough to be exciting. We both prefer our own chili, but conceded that there was a place in the world for the other’s. And then, in proper children’s book manner, we mixed our chilis into one pot to serve at the church fellowship meal the Sunday.
