A Road Less Travelled

No, really I have a good excuse for not posting. It’s not that aliens invaded or that I was turned into a zombie–it’s slightly harder to believe than that. Are you ready? My parents actually came for a visit. (If this doesn’t sound unbelievable to you, you’ve obviously never owned goats.)

The main point of the visit was my father teaching a Warskyl self defense conference. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the conference. Most of the information I’d already learned from my father in bits and pieces over the years, but being able to sit and listen to a serious presentation from a deliberately Biblical worldview, followed by yelling and practicing to hit people might just qualify as a perfect day for me.

In case you haven’t noticed I am very much my father’s daughter, and yes, I do inherit my choice of wardrobe colors from him as well.

Unfortunately, all of us managed to be really tired for most of their visit, but we still managed to fit in some important family traditions. These include repeatedly telling my mother to sit down and rest while she repeatedly manages to get away with washing our dishes and sweeping our floor while we’re not looking, repeatedly turning down my mother’s offers to pay for various things, a thrift store visit, and even some target practice. (I really need to practice more often–I’d like to be working on actually hitting the target, not just working on getting my shots to all hit the paper…)

In some ways the visit was just long enough to have to say goodbye again, but it was still good to have them here. Hopefully we’ll get to see them again soon…
