In All Things… Day 15 (Gabrielle)
November 17, 2008 by sharppointythings
Today I am thankful the sun actually shines here in Illinois during the winter. In Erie the sun hides behind all the clouds from the end of October all the way through March. The days are gray and the nights are long. All the lights in the house don’t feel like enough.
But here in Illinois usually only November is gray and cloudy. I’ve been struggling these past couple of days and I was starting to get depressed because I forgot this wasn’t going to last for the next few months. Now I’m looking forward to the winter and can’t wait for snow. I can wait for ice, but I’m getting excited about snow.
Father, I thank You for the sun.
For the way it shines on the snow
And the way it effects our moods.
I thank You for bright winter days
And I pray that You would give special grace to those who have to go without the sun for months on end.
Amen.
I’m already turning on lights in an attempt to trick my mind into being cheerful. We’re in the midst of our second snow storm of the season already. Last night we had another thundersnow storm. That’s such a strange thing to experience.
Can you add a special prayer for those of us who are without the sun and going through prenancy at the same time? And how about a prayer for the husbands of these women?
