Happy New Year! (Raquel)
January 13, 2009 by sharppointythings
Hey look, I’m not even two weeks late posting about the new year! Considering how much was going on right around New Year’s Day, I wasn’t even planning on posting until the 5th or 6th, so really I’m only a week late. See how organized and productive I’ve managed to be in the new year?
I got the usual rush of “It’s a new year, I will now become a better and more organized person!” and was trying to decide what to do with it. I knew it wasn’t going to last, because that kind of intensity never does, but I decided it would be silly not to use the rush while I had it. I referred to it as ‘pretending to be organized’ and stood back in some amusement as I watched myself industriously put away the craft projects I would normally leave out to work on ‘when I had the time’, make my bed in the morning, and start taking walks again. I knew it would be a matter of days before the socks started collecting at the foot of my bed, and my new, more efficient dresser-top arrangement would be in complete disarray.
To my surprise, however, even with the fading excitement about being organized, the floor of my room is still clean. I took my walk this morning (in five degree weather, I might add), and my bed, er, hang on… Yes, my bed is now sock free.
It’s true that I am not suddenly a better, more organized person, my new year’s post was almost two weeks late, and the non-fiction I’ve tried to get back to reading has as yet only been a few insignificant sections of a long book, but it does seem that a few of those ‘organized’ habits might actually stick. Weird, huh?
Very weird.
I think Merrianna meant “weird” in a good way
