A Road Less Travelled

Yesterday I sat down to do some writing. I’ve kinda gotten out of the groove and I was going to fix that. I picked out what music I was going to listen, I’d opened up a document and I was just about to read over the last story I’d written to get in the right mood when I saw an email come across. It was from Seth to our church’s email loop and it was about Crystal’s mother. She had just suffered a fairly severe heart attack and was in a coma. Instead of writing I went to pick up Seth from work. An hour or so later he and Crystal decided that they needed to go to Erie. They left early this morning.

So here I am with the children. Seth and Crystal will be back late Tuesday at the earliest and Thursday at the latest. But for all the shortness of the notice and longness of the trip I’m feeling pretty good about the next few days. I’ve got some plans that will hopefully keep our sanity levels high and I’ve got lots of people waiting in the wings for when they get low.

Still, if ya’ll could pray for us that would be great. Pray for Seth and Crystal as they travel today. It is a horrible time to take a trip. They’re driving from the bitter cold into a snowstorm. Pray for the kids and I as we stay here. Pray for safety and sanity. And pray for Crystal’s mom. I haven’t heard any new updates since the first one, but it looks bad. She is not a Christian and so, as we look at all the possibilities, that which holds no fear for a believer holds only suffering for her. Please pray for her soul and her salvation.
