For Hope Deliverance, On the Day of Her Baptism (Raquel)
April 26, 2009 by sharppointythings
This isn’t really the traditional baptismal blessing, but bits of this poem started coming during Hope’s baptism, and I don’t know why, but I think it’s for her.
Hope
It’s the tiny dying scream
of a heart that’s going down
It’s the never quite content
of a perfect day on earth
It’s the pain of Heaven’s call
when you’re trapped down here on Earth.
It’s the thing that keeps us going
when there’s nowhere left to go.
Because the better days are coming
and Jesus keeps His word,
Because the crown of glory’s waiting
for those who make it through.
It’s the earth beneath your fingers
as you’re dangling off the cliff.
It’s the siren in the night
when you’re bleeding out alone.
It’s the thread you’re hanging by
that seems it going to snap,
but the better days are coming
and Jesus keeps His Word
and the crown of glory’s waiting
for those who make it through.
It’s the bloody field of battle
crying out to darkening sky
that there’s a reason for our fighting
that’s worth a painful death
that His Kingdom still is coming
and the sun will rise at last.
Because the better days are coming
and Jesus keeps His word,
Because the crown of glory’s waiting
for those who make it through.
And His grace is all sufficient
His saints will make it through.
Hope Deliverance. Who else would it be for?
The bright inlay of hope offsets the darkness of life . . . beautiful poem.
This is really lovely, Raquel.
