Until the Wheels Come Off (Gabrielle)

This past Sunday an old man stood in the pulpit of Providence Church and talked to us about Jesus. He walked with a cane and with great care, but he spoke from the pulpit with power and authority. He spoke about his Lord. Sometimes I didn’t quite know where he was coming from or where he was trying to go with his words, but always, always I knew Who he was talking about. He has quite possibly been serving Jesus for longer than most of the congregation has been alive. It was an honor to listen to him.
Afterwards an elder likened the old preacher to a race car. There’s a phrase that comes from racing culture- “Drive it til the wheels come off.” That is indeed what Pastor LaMay is doing. He’s driving for Jesus until the wheels come off and it’s time to rest.
I pray that someday the same will be said of me.
You know, I really appreciated Bryan’s comment about Pastor LeMay. It was very fitting. I also felt the weight of it as a challenge.
BTW, your assessment of Pastor LeMay’s sermon was spot on. I often don’t understand the content of the sermon, but I’m always moved by his evident passion for Jesus.
